FINAL AR---Magical Realism

Magical Realism Chp. 11-20
Chp.11
Aureliano Segundo sleeps with Petra Cotes so the animals will breed more frequently for them. I find it stupid that just because people are sexually attracted and wanting to be okay with having sex that it means animals are going to have more kids. Triste can break plates by never putting a hand on them at all. The ashes from Wednesday for the 17 kids never even came off and I believe that if that were the case they would have to be magically related to the outcome.

Chp.12
How you ask is it that Remedios ascended to heaven and she was still alive. Well all that red this book are questioning it and wanting to know the same thing. There had to be power in the helping of it all. And what is even funnier is that I honestly found nothing she did any special deed or chore like our Mary the Mother of Jesus had done. There were not many magical realistice movements.

Chp.13
Ursula is remembering people's daily routines and what each of them have to do. In this chapter it seems that is what Ursula lives her life to do for other's goods and needs. However, who is to say what each person in life can handle in their brain! Also when colonel went to go pee out in the yard at the chestnut tree, he got pee all on his father's ghost. The ghost stays there even though the father has passed away for a long time now.

Chp.14
Amaranta sees herself dying, which is not normal. She knew it would come once she finished weaving her shroud and it seemed to be a freaky moment in the book for that. And Amaranta was to take these letters to the other dead ones for them to read and bask in. Who would want to do that?? CREEPY! Also yellow butterflies follow Meme's boyfriend Mauricio Babilonia for a long time.

Chp. 15
The town forgetting what happened when the government went to the plantation and began to kill, is nothing but magical because of the fact that it has occured before this time. Also the heavy rain erasing all traits of what had happened at the plantation. The non-stop raining will cause a flood before it causes them to be cleared of all things at the plantation.

Chp.16
Continuous rain for 5 years is magical because you can't let it rain that long and not die of no foos from flooding or being stuck in your house. Maybe it was sign that they need to change their ways of acting like God did to the people in the Bible. The town is also forgetting more and more by the second. Lastly, Aureliano Segundo is not as able to put himself out there for others to see him as outgoing. Also Ursula predicted her own death, that she knew she was going to die after the rain had passed and personally, I didn't think that you could really do that.

Chp.17
In this chapter Ursula is seeing ghosts of her dead ancestors. She can sit there and talk to them and let them have conversations with her about everything. The Buendias all come to visit her and it seems odd because if you hear someone talking to you, most people would freak out and go insane. However, she doesn't do that. Even though she is getting older like 120, in the last years of her life, you still shouldn't go that crazy to talk to people like that. Also when there was a plague of dead birds in the village, the people found a monster that they blamed the plague on. The plague is able to happen, but not to let the monster be the cause of it or the fact that he wanted it to happen this way. Jose Arcadio Segundo is still stuck in Melaquiades' room after years of sitting and studying.

Chp.18
An aspect of magical realism in this chapter is once again the seeing of a ghost. Melaquides reappearing as a ghost to the baby Auerlino is impossible because of the fact that ghosts don't exist. Aureliano sees the ghost of Melquiades, who talks to him about trying to explain and understand the scrolls. Also Fernanda thought that elves would come into her house and move things around. Elves can't hurt someone who is the normal height compared to them and why would they want to bother you and cause you trouble..you know they have to make toys for Christmas.(lol) The parchments that levitates when the children tries to destroy them.

Chp.19
The fact the Pilar was able to tell Aureliano the way that things were happening somewhere in a distant place. She was able to sense what was going on in his heart as well as the fact the Amaranta Ursula felt the same way as him, with out even speaking to her.

Chp.20
Fernanda’s bones trembled with horror in her grave. I think that it is impossible for bones to move in the grave that is under tons of dirt without some sort of person egging them on. The fact that a family's entire history was predicted and written down 100 years before it even happened is very out of place. How would anyone know what was to happen before it did? Or maybe that could just be the reason that things ended up the way that it was because they didn't want to disprut the way that it was to end up being.
